In his role with the Wolfpack, Hughes will oversee the operational aspects of recruiting, including all on-campus recruiting efforts. He will organize official visit weekends, unofficial visits, junior days, mailings and other recruiting-related matters.
Prior to joining the Knights' football staff in December of 2011, Hughes spent five seasons with the University of Alabama, serving as a recruiting specialist for Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban from 2007-11 and helping with the daily operations for the Nick Saban Summer Camps from 2008-11. He also spent four years on the football video staff.
At Alabama, he worked under Ed Marynowitz, who is now the Assistant Director of Pro Scouting for the Philadelphia Eagles.
"I'm really excited to have Drew Hughes join the Wolfpack family," said Doeren. "He has a great passion for recruiting, is extremely organized and trained under Ed Marynowitz, who is one of the best in the business at Alabama. I look forward to the energy and organization he'll bring to the position."
Hughes earned his bachelor's in education from Alabama in 2011. In the spring of that year, he gained experience as a secondary coach at Tuscaloosa County High School (Ala.), as well as interning on the offensive side of the ball in 2010.
