The Wolfpack will play its only exhibition contest of the preseason when it hosts Division II Belmont Abbey at PNC Arena on Saturday. The game is set to begin 30 minutes following the conclusion of the NC State-Virginia football game. The game is free to the public. Seating for Saturday’s exhibition is general admission and is not included in the season ticket package.
For fans only attending the basketball exhibition on Saturday afternoon, parking is available at the NC State Vet School, at the corner of Blue Ridge Road and Hillsborough Street. There will be a shuttle service provided from the parking deck starting 3 p.m., and will run for an hour following after the game. Drop-off and pickup will be at the South box office.
Saturday’s game will be broadcast on the NC State Radio Network with Gary Hahn handling the play-by-play duties of action and Tony Haynes providing the color commentary.
Belmont Abbey was 15-12 overall and 9-7 in Conference Carolinas play last season. The Crusaders return three starters from a year ago, including leading scorer senior Tyshawn Good, who averaged 21.7 points per game. In addition to Good, returning for Belmont Abbey are fellow seniors Jay Council and Terrone Sheffey. Council averaged 13.1 ppg, while Sheffey added 10.7 ppg.
Stephen Miss is entering his sixth season as the Crusaders’ coach, guiding the program to a 65-49 mark over that span.
The preseason pick to win the ACC, the Wolfpack returns the starting quartet of Lorenzo Brown, Richard Howell, C.J. Leslie and Scott Wood – all whom averaged double figures last season. NC State also welcomes the talented freshman trio of Rodney Purvis, Tyler Lewis and T.J. Warren.
NC State is coming off its first Sweet Sixteen appearance since 2005 after finishing 24-13 overall and 9-7 in the ACC under coach Mark Gottfried in his first season at the helm of the program.
Fans may also utilize independent parking areas adjacent to PNC Arena if Vet School parking is at capacity. Vet School and independent parking are subject to availability and on a first come, first serve basis.
