Tocho Still Solid With State

Tocho Still Solid With State

Charlotte (NC) Independence defensive back and NC State commitment Jack Tocho is having a solid year. He talks with Pack Pride about his season and recruitment.

At Charlotte Independence, one of the state's most prestigious football programs, Jack Tocho is best labeled an athlete.

He mainly plays cornerback but his coaches put him at running back and free safety whenever they believe he can help them better at those spots. So yes, athlete is probably his most proper classification.

Some colleges were recruiting Tocho without giving him a clearly-defined role. But with NC State he knows what he's getting himself into.

"They recruited me to play corner," Tocho said. "I feel comfortable there. I've been playing pretty well (at corner) this year. I could've played better and I could've had more interceptions but I think I'm playing pretty well for the most part."

Independence has only lost one game on the season.

Even though Tocho is committed to the Wolfpack the coaches are still recruiting him as though he were not on board. In this day and age when de-commitments seem to be as commonplace as commitments that's probably a wise approach.

"Jim Bridge is the coach I talk to and the last time we spoke was this past Monday. I'm solid with them," he said. "I was actually there when they played Citadel.

"I think they've been playing well this year but there have just been a few mistakes here and there that have held them back a little bit. I think they're close."

The 6'0, 185-pound cornerback said Wake Forest made an early attempt to sway him from his commitment but the Demon Deacons have since backed off.
