MEDIA DAY: Wolfpack Players

Lorenzo Brown

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Several NC State players met with the media today at the Wolfpack's 2012 Media Day to discuss the upcoming season.

C.J. Leslie

"My freshman year was rough, you could say it was rough. It didn't play out the way I thought it was."

"The second year started off good... it was basically me getting off on the right step and finishing great."

"It was very humbling. It was a rough start, a rough year."

"It was definitely a learning stage in my life, but at this point I'm just hoping to get better."

Lorenzo Brown

"Probably defense... there is not a lot of defense that goes on in high school football... everyone plays defense in college basketball."

"I was very happy. I was a little nervous with the surgery, I didn't know how long I would be out, three months or five weeks. I was just blessed."

"I was just so anxious to come back and play because I couldn't really move for five weeks."

Richard Howell

"I had never been out of the country before so to experience that, see different things... I feel like it's a totally different world."

"T.J. can score. I've never seen somebody who knows where the basket is at... when I see it he really does. He can be anywhere from in the red to out in the logos and he floats it up there."

"He throws up some crazy [stuff] man but it goes in. You can tell it's not luck because he does it constantly everyday. That's definitely going to help us."

"I'm toning up more... the workouts we do are crazy."

Rodney Purvis

"Coach Gottfried called me... I was leaving tutoring. Coach Gottfried called me from a private number and I was like I don't think I want to answer this. I picked it up, it was breaking up and I was about to hang up and it was coach Gottfried and he said I'd been cleared. I told him to stop playing, but that's how I found out."

"With the team being pretty good, I feel like we can still make an impact. I feel like we can give a little more depth... I feel like we can come in and be able to make an impact."

"There is a lot of hype going around with us, but we haven't really done anything yet. We've just got to live up to the expectations."

T.J. Warren

"I've been listening to coach Gottfried and trying to learn the system."

"It was a great experience for me and the team."

"I'm usually matched up with Scott or Ralston Turner and I'll get down low and guard Richard and C.J. some times."

Tyler Lewis

"I'm getting used to it. At first I thought it was a really big campus... everything is going well."

"Trying to lead the team and get more comfortable around the players. I'm trying to learn coach Gottfried's system and impress my teammates and coaches."

"You've got to have the most leadership out of any other player. The good thing about my role is I'll be backing up Lorenzo."

"You can only learn from the best, and Zo is the best."

Scott Wood

"It's definitely different. A lot of expectations have been placed on us for the upcoming season but our team has always known we can be really good."

"We just need to check our egos at the door, be an unselfish team, and work hard every day."

"I feel like it can go both ways... I think the main thing for us right now is we know we havent' beat the Carolinas and Dukes. We still have to get over that hump. If we want to be ACC champions we still have to beat them."

"There is no reason that NC State shouldn't be known as a powerhouse. To be back in the light and doing well is very rewarding, but it only matters what you do at the end of the year."

"[The NCAA Tournament] is like Disney World. You've got to go back for a second time once you go once."
