The Wolfpack return home to take on South Alabama in the home opener, a game that should be a reprieve from a tough opening pair of games. This is the first of three home games across a four-week period for the Wolfpack.

-- Both teams had 204 passing yards when N.C. State defeated Connecticut. That's a good number allowed by the defense, but it's a low number compared to what's expected from QB Mike Glennon and the offense.

-- The 10-7 victory for N.C. State marked a rarity in that the Wolfpack won despite scoring only 10 points. The last time it managed such an accomplishment came with a 10-0 victory in 1999 against South Carolina -- and that also came in the second game of the season. The last road victory with such a low total came 44 years ago in a 10-6 decision at Wake Forest.

KEEP AN EYE ON: WR Bryan Underwood is coming off a preseason injury that required a minor medical procedure on a knee. He was fatigued in the opener, but he came up big in the second game with a 46-yard touchdown reception at Connecticut. Underwood's big-play capabilities shouldn't be underestimated because all three of his career touchdown receptions have been of at least 33 yards.

LOOKING GOOD: The defensive backfield amped up its performance, perhaps most evident by the 204 passing yards allowed to Connecticut, which attempted 27 passes. Of those Huskies throws, three were intercepted by members of the Wolfpack secondary. This group is expected to be the foundation of the team, and after a rough opener, it began to look sturdy in the second game.

STILL NEEDS WORK: An abundance of breakdowns on the offensive line contributed to six sacks allowed by the Wolfpack. This wasn't a major area of concern last season, so now it's something that will require immediate attention. Coach Tom O'Brien said it's imperative that the Wolfpack figure "some things out because teams will copy that down the road."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "This is a great win for these guys and this team, especially after what happened last week." -- Coach Tom O'Brien, on evening the record at 1-1 by defeating Connecticut after losing to Tennessee.

STRATEGY AND PERSONNEL
PLAYER NOTES:

-- P Wil Baumann had the second nine-punt outing of his career. The sophomore averaged 36.2 yards per attempt, with four of his boots resulting in fair catches.

-- RB Mustafa Greene was the starter at tailback, making his second career start. He finished with 51 yards on 17 attempts.

-- CB David Amerson's first interception of the season marked the 14th of his career. Amerson, who set single-season and ACC records last season as a sophomore, is two interceptions away from matching the school's career record.
