NC State is just one of several schools in the mix for one of Florida's more under-rated prospects, Lance Virgile.
The 6-3, 215-pound linebacker from the nationally-renowned high school football factory known as St. Thomas Aquinas has been talking about trimming his list. He hasn't mentioned NC State as much as some other schools recently but the Wolfpack has always been an option.
"I'm extremely interested in NC State. I just haven't talked to them as much lately but during the summer I did. I talked to them during the last contact period but it's been a little while. I'm still very interested though," he said.
West Virginia, Wake Forest and others have been mentioned by Virgile more frequently but that doesn't mean the Pack is out of the running. Those two plus Houston and Central Florida have been in touch with Virgile recently.
There's a good chance at least two of those schools will secure official visit promises in the near future.
"I know I want to take visits to Wake Forest and Houston pretty soon," Virgile continued. "But other than that I don't really know. I do think I'll probably visit Central Florida too. I haven't set any of those dates like concrete or anything yet. I'm going to be taking a couple of my visits during the season but the rest after the season."
Virgile has never been to NC State and he would probably have to use one of those two remaining officials (assuming he visits Wake, Houston and UCF) in order to make it to Raleigh before announcing his decision.
St. Thomas Aquinas is 2-0 on the year with Virgile contributing at defensive end and both middle and outside linebacker at different points in those games.
He has been pegged as the #84 OLB in the nation by Scout making him the 13th-ranked at his position in Florida.
