MIAMI, FL -- Several NC State players met with the media following the Wolfpack's loss to Miami…
Glennon: "We Need To Get Our First Win"
Redshirt senior quarterback Mike Glennon answer was short and direct when asked how important Saturday's game against UCONN is for NC State. "We need to get our first win," said Glennon. Glennon threw four interceptions and had a critical fumble that resulted in a safety in the opener against Tennessee. He knows more than anybody that he must be better if State's going to leave Hartford, Connecticut with a victory. "We realize that was a very good opponent," said Glennon. "We had a lot of effort out there, but we just didn't execute like we wanted to. "We feel like we have to keep working hard and prepare the right way... execute come game day." One of the positives for NC State was the production the Pack received at wide receiver and tight end. State had to replace starters at both positions, and several player stepped up. Junior wideout Quintin Payton tallied a game-high 129 yards on four catches to lead a group of wideouts that impressed Glennon. "I thought they looked real good," he said. "I knew all camp that Quintin was ready to have that kind of performance. He looked great all camp. b "Bryan [Underwood], coming back from injury, he did well, and when Tobais [Palmer] has the ball in his hands you never know what's going to happen." Both tight ends, Mario Carter and Asa Watson, combined to chip in nine catches for 96 yards as they were replacing two-time All-ACC standout George Bryan. "The tight ends also played well," said Glennon. "We had some big catches from the tight ends, and that's also a good sign." UCONN will also be a tough test for the Wolfpack. The Husky defense is experienced, and in the opener they were dominant against UMass. "They are very active, and they come after the quarterback very well," Glennon said. "They seem to be very well-coached. You can tell they are in the right spots at the right time. They just fly around and are very active."
