Jones Wins Silver in London

Former NC State swimmer Cullen Jones won an Olympic silver medal in the men's 400m freestyle relay last night in London.

Former NC State swimmer Cullen Jones won an Olympic silver medal in the men's 400m freestyle relay last night in London.

Joining Nathan Adrian, Michael Phelps, and Ryan Lochte, Jones ran the third leg for USA, which finished in second place with a time of 3:10:38. France came away with the Gold, posting a time of 3:09:93.

Jones and the USA won the gold medal in the same event in 2008.

The 6-foot-5 swimmer will now participate in the two individual events that he will represent the USA in, the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle. Jones was tabbed "USA's fastest swimmer" after winning the 50-meter freestyle at the USA Olympic trials.

The 100-meter heats begin tomorrow with the final taking place on Wednesday. The 50-meter freestyle heats are on Thursday with the final being held on Friday.
