NC State head coach Tom O'Brien announced today that 2012 signees Xavier Griffin, Tyler Knox, and Desmond Owino failed to qualify academically for enrollment.
Griffin, a 6-foot-3 wide receiver from Newark, Delaware, was expected to contend for playing time as a true freshman. He helped lead Newark (DE) High School to a 12-1 record as a senior from his wide receiver position where he earned first-team all-state honors. O'Brien said he'll be attending prep school.
Knox, a 6-foot-4 defensive end from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was named MVP in South Carolina's North-South Game and he will attend junior college according to O'Brien.
Owino, a 6-foot-5 defensive end from Raleigh, North Carolina, played just one season of football for Sanderson (NC) High School, and O'Brien said he'll be attending prep school.
