VIDEO: O'Brien Says Goal is ACC Title

Posted Jul 24, 2012

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- NC State head coach Tom O'Brien met with the TV and Internet video media at the ACC Kickoff.

"I think this is the most experienced and deepest team we've had since I've been here."

"A year ago, we went to the last game with a chance to get there. If you look at the last two years, we've beat everybody on our side of the bracket... we have to beat them all in the same year. That's what our challenge is to do this year and that's what we're going to set out and try to get done."

"I'm sure people will challenge [David Amerson]. I don't think people think he is invincible... but he has to understand maybe he won't get as many opportunities as he had last year."

"I think [Mike Glennon] has grown a lot in the last year... with any young quarterback... he's had his ups-and-downs but he certainly got better as the year went on."

"He is in a much better starting position July 31st this year than he was last year."

"[Penn State] just became a I-AA school. They went down to 65 scholarships and that is what a I-AA school is."

"I think it is a great opportunity for this football team, and I think we're ready to take this step and play this football game."

"Kicking off the season for the conference against an SEC team, we've got to start winning those football games if we are going to get the credit we deserve as a conference."

"We're going to play for ourselves, our school, and the ACC."

"It's certainly a work-in-progress. I don't think it's going to be settled until the week before the Tennessee game."
