I've been waiting on that offer for a while now so I was relieved when they did.

"I like everything about NC State. I like the school, the environment, and the facilities. The coaches are cool... I just fit in there."

Cherry, who checks in at 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, posted a 4.43 40-yard dash on grass at the Wolfpack's recent summer camp. He worked out at defensive back and wide receiver with the Pack looking to keep the football in his hands.

"Coach Petercuskie said they want me primarily as a wideout, but they are recruiting me as an athlete," said Cherry. "He mentioned I could help them in a lot of ways... also as a punt returner and a kick returner."

An all-conference selection as a junior for New Bern High School, Cherry lined up at multiple positions for the Bears. Playing wideout, tailback, defensive back and returner, he impacted the game in a variety of ways.

"He's a definite impact guy," says New Bern head coach Bobby Curlings. "He never leaves the field for us. Anytime he touches the ball he has a pretty good chance at going the distance.

"He's got the moves to make you miss, is strong enough to break tackles, and he is fast enough to outrun people. He can score anytime he touches the ball in any phase of the game."

"More importantly, Bra'lon is a great kid," added coach Cherry. "We share the ball in our offense and there isn't a selfish bone in his body. He is a team captain who does everything the right way. He is a great player and a great teammate... the kind of player a coach dreams of."

Cherry totaled nearly 800 yards rushing and receiving with 10 total touchdowns during his junior campaign.

He first burst on the scene this spring at the Charlotte Nike Football SPARQ Combine. The event featured over 1,300 participants, and Cherry posted the No. 2 overall SPARQ rating and the top mark for Class of 2013 prospects.

He measured in at 5'11.5 and 174 pounds while ripping off a 4.56 40-yard dash and a 4.27 shuttle. He also had a 35.8-inch vertical jump, and his 40-yard dash time was the second-best at the combine.
