School: Maurice J McDonough High School Notes: Coates lined up at several positions during his senior year, as he played tailback, wide receiver, tight end, linebacker, and safety for McDonough.

He finished the season with 86 tackles (36 solo), 12 tackles for loss, three interceptions, four pass breakups and two sacks on defense, including returning one interception 70 yards for a touchdown.

Offensively, he rushed nine times for 30 yards and hauled in 12 passes for 269 yards and a score.
