McClinton to stay home

Three-star forward Greg McClinton returned from the NBPA Top 100 Camp and decided to end his recruitment.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have been working hard to keep three-star forward Greg McClinton home. On Monday that work paid off when McClinton decided to pull the trigger and issue his verbal commitment.

At 6-foot-6 with big time athleticism, McClinton has been on the national radar for a while. He made waves with the CP3 All-Stars during the summer circuit which led to numerous offers. Now he knows he will be headed to Wake Forest.

"Yes I have committed to Wake," said McClinton.

Despite a lot of other interest from other programs, allure of staying close to home and playing for the team he grew up watching proved to be the difference.

"I grew up a Wake kid and it has always been a dream of mine to play there," McClinton explained.

He continued, "It is always great to be in front of friends and family and play close to home."

According to McClinton upon returning from the NBPA Top 100 Camp he spoke with his mother and decided the time was right to make the decision.

"I decided last night when I was talking to my mom," said McClinton. "I just felt it was the right decision for me."

McClinton is ranked as the No. 21 small forward in the nation and is the first commitment for Wake Forest in the 2013 class.
