Rodon and Turner make NC State the only program in the country to have two Freshman All-American first teamers. Kentucky, Stony Brook, and UC Santa Barbara were the only other teams to have more than one selection, each earning one first team selection and one second team.
Turner finished the season as the national leader in stolen bases, smashing the previous NC State single-season record with a 57-for-61 total. Rodon became the Wolfpack’s first-ever Golden Spikes Finalist recently, completing his season with a 9-0 record, 1.57 ERA, and 135 strikeouts.
The 2012 NCBWA National Freshman Player of the Year and National Freshman Pitcher of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, June 12.
