Purvis Named to USA U18 National Team

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Incoming NC State freshman Rodney Purvis has been selected as a member of the 12-man USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team.

The team will now compete in the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, June 16-20 in Sao Sebastioáo do Paraiso, Brazil.

Rodney Purvis and his teammates will continue training through June 11 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., and will depart June 12 for Brazil. Tryouts for the squad began on June 5. To be eligible for this competition, players must have been born on or after Jan. 1, 1994.

The U18 National Team is under the direction of University of Florida head coach Billy Donovan. Assisting Donovan along the sidelines are Mark Few of Gonzaga and Shaka Smart of Virginia Commonwealth University.
