NC State has landed a commitment from Lake Mary (FL) linebacker Jerod Fernandez, one of the top targets on the Wolfpack's recruiting board.

"I've liked NC State for a while but it's just been some time and praying... talking to my family about it," said Fernandez. "I was ready to do it. Coach Reed, he was real excited. He liked it a lot.

"Overall, it's the ACC, and they have been a school showing me a lot of love and staying in contact with me. I just feel like it's the place for me."

Fernandez, who also held offers from Cincinnati, Pitt, UCF, Rutgers, Western Kentucky, Memphis, and Temple among others, finished his junior season with 99 total tackles, one caused fumble, and two pass breakups.

He is being recruited to play outside linebacker at NC State.

"I'll be up there for a game and to spend some more time with the coaches and players," he stated. "I've already started to build a relationship with some of the recruits like K'Hadree Hooker... just staying in contact with them.

McKever Accepts Offer
According to a source close to the situation, South Columbus (NC) athlete Pharoah McKever committed to NC State shortly after receiving an offer from the Wolfpack.

As a junior, he threw for 1,267 yards and 14 touchdowns on 86-of-137 passes (63.7-percent) and rushed for 11 additional scores. However, NC State is recruiting McKever, who checks in at 6-foot-6 and 208 pounds, to play wide receiver. He was also hearing from North Carolina and East Carolina.

Pack Pride will have more from Fernandez and McKever in the near future so stay tuned...
