Burton Recaps Visit

Danville (VA) George Washington tight end Chris Burton talks about his recent visit to NC State.

Chris Burton says he doesn't have any favorites but it sure looks like NC State is in good shape.

The Danville (VA) George Washington tight end will probably be heading out of state for college. That's because schools like NC State, Texas Tech and Vanderbilt have offered while Virginia and Virginia Tech haven't, nor have they shown as much interest.

The 6-3, 240-pound tight end appears to be a major recruiting target for the Wolfpack. Even aside from the offer, the staff is making a strong pitch that Burton likes.

"Coach Bible actually came down here sometime last week I want to say," Burton said. "He just came and we had a good conversation about football. We were basically talking about recruiting and how they run their offense.

"I told him that I'd be back up there soon because I want to go and meet with the players."

Burton's first visit to NC State was in the spring. He had the chance to watch the Pack practice and said it was a great time.

"It was great," he said. "I loved the coaches and I love their style of play. I actually got to see them practice."

That style of play is one of the biggest reasons Burton is interested in the Pack.

"I like how they use their tight ends a lot and knowing the quarterbacks that have been through there, they're great passers," he said. "I felt good about it. I felt pretty confident, not that I want to make a decision yet."

When asked where NC State stands on Burton's list right now he replied, "I really don't know yet," but emphasized that he likes the school a lot.

Tennessee, East Carolina and Richmond have all stopped by George Washington to check Burton out as well. Burton wants to get out to Greenville to visit East Carolina at some point.

Burton is hoping to make his decision before the football season.
