RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State forward C.J. Leslie met with the media today after announcing his decision to stay at NC State for his junior season.

"It was a tough decision, it is a big decision to make for anybody. I just figured we started a good thing last year, and I might as well finish it."

"I wanted to take my time as much as possible, but it's one of those things you couldn't help but think about. I tried to take as much time as needed and make the best decision for me."

"It was just one of those decisions where I kind of knew, I had an idea. It would have been a good situation if I left, but I felt like this was the best decision right here, for me to come back."

"I talked to coach Gottfried a lot over the last couple of weeks, but yesterday I had a face-to-face conversation with him and I told him."

"I don't know if he was excited at first, I kind of played a little joke on him... at the end he was obviously very excited and the coaching staff all came in and joined."

"I can grow in every aspect of the game."

"I know I'm going to be ready for it and I expect my teammates to be right there with me."

"Rodney Purvis, I'm pretty sure ya'll know him, he texted me every night, saying he'd love to play with me and hoped I'd come back."

"I don't think he was ready for me to play a joke on him, he was a little too serious about it."

"I was leaning this way early on. Things really didn't shift, they shifted a little bit for me later on, but I ended up coming back, obviously I made this decision."

"I think I can improve on everything that I did good last year and the things I didn't do so well. If I can get better at it I'm going to get better at it."

"I try to live for the moment for the first part... it just happened. I didn't really try to push it one way, I was just going with the flow."

"I have to definitely step up and take a [vocal] role... I'm going to step up and take a leadership role for the team."

"I'm sure some of them know from Twitter or early and will find out by the end of this interview."

"Alex, he's a very interesting character."

"Definitely. We're going to work and go for [the ACC title]... we're not planning to lose or anything... we're going to definitely do everything we possibly can to win it all."

"I just have a special relationship with Rodney because I knew him ever since we were younger, but also Tyler Lewis and T.J. [Warren]."

"DeShawn made the best decision for him and I wish him the best of luck. I played no part in his decision and he played no part in my decision."
