NC State head coach Tom O'Brien informed the media that tailback Mustafa Greene isn't practicing with the team. Rumors surfaced last week that Greene was no longer on the team, but O'Brien stated those were not true.
"I guess there are great rumors that he was kicked off the team, but there is nothing new that way," said O'Brien. "He's not practicing right now."
Greene, who redshirted the 2011 season with a foot injury, is apparently not sitting out for health reasons.
"Yeah, I think he's healthy," O'Brien replied when asked if Greene was healthy.
Just last week O'Brien had indicated that Greene was working out with the team.
"[Mustafa Greene] is doing alright," O'Brien said last Tuesday. "We're not going to do too much with him. He's going to get some work here and there. The key with him is to make sure he can wake up and go the next day."
Greene, a 6-foot, 201-pound tailback from Irmo, South Carolina, led the Wolfpack in rushing as a true freshman in 2010, totaling 597 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 272 yards receiving and two more scores.
