Following The Plan

Boston College head coach Steve Donahue said his players did what they were supposed to do by letting the air out of the ball.

"This is just such a physical team and they play at such a pace, it's hard to match their physicality,” he said of State. “I thought the kids did a good job at it.

"That was my thought coming into it -- we just couldn't get into an up and down game with this team. I don't like to play that way and we're not going to play that way, but for us to win, I've got to teach them how to compete."

Freshman guard Lonnie Jackson, who had 10 points, including a 4-point play early in the second half, supported his coach's game plan.

"I'm going to follow the game plan with what coach wants us to do. If it’s going to give us a chance to win, I'm going to be happy with it."
