Raleigh (NC) Broughton linebacker Drew Davis picked up an offer from NC State last week and it took just a few days for him to switch his commitment from Minnesota to NC State.
"It's nothing against Minnesota or their coaches but I want to be close to my family and that is right here in Raleigh at NC State," said Davis. "I've told the coaches at both schools my final decision and I'm excited about it.
"State's coaches were happy. They are glad that I'm going to be a part of the family and that I will be on campus this weekend for an official visit. I'm ready to get over there."
Checking in at 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, Davis says he has been timed as low as 4.68 in the 40-yard dash. He stated that the Wolfpack coaches are recruiting him to play weakside and middle linebacker and offered after losing star linebacker Terrell Manning to the NFL Draft.
"Coach said that they had Terrell Manning go into the draft so I think they need somebody to come in early and play," said Davis. "Maybe it is at weakside linebacker, but I think at middle linebacker and he said a lot on blitz packages they could use me.
"Coach Archer has been straightforward with me throughout it all. He has been honest and upfront. I like him a lot."
Davis also held offers from Ball State and Western Michigan when he originally selected Minnesota back in June.
Pack Pride will have more on Davis' decision in the near future so stay tuned!
