All eyes might be on Russell Wilson and "The Decision" made by NC State head coach Tom O'Brien, but NC State redshirt junior Mike Glennon has quietly put together a terrific season.

All eyes might be on Russell Wilson and "The Decision" made by NC State head coach Tom O'Brien, but redshirt junior Mike Glennon has quietly put together a terrific season.

Through six weeks, Glennon is already one of the most prolific quarterbacks in the Atlantic Coast Conference and is on pace to have a record-setting start to his career.

He leads the ACC in touchdown passes with 16 and has thrown just four interceptions. He is also second in the league in passing yards (1,486 yards) while completing nearly 65% of his passes.

In Saturday's win, Glennon tossed four touchdowns to four different receivers and had 244 yards on the day.

"Receivers made plays," he said. "The offensive line did a great job, I didn't get really hit. The first sack was not really on the line. As a team we have to credit the running game for getting the safeties up in the box."

"[Mike Glennon] threw the ball well, all in all," said O'Brien. "He's still a 6-game starter, he's still learning. I think he's doing a heck of a job running the offense right now. He's feeling confident. He got out of the pocket and when there wasn't anything he got rid of it, didn't take a loss. All in all, it was a good, workmanlike day for him."

With his team at 3-3, Glennon believes the Pack will face a new season following the bye week.

"It's big, .500," he said. "We'd like to have done better but now we have kind of a new season of all ACC games. We can rest, recover and get healthy and just work on getting better as a team and get ready for the rest of the ACC games."

He is already tied for the eighth-best single season mark in touchdowns in school history. Only Philip Rivers, Jamie Barnette and Russell Wilson have ever thrown more TDs for the Pack in a season than Glennon has thrown thus far in 2011. In fact, he is on pace to surpass the statistics posted by both Rivers and Wilson in their first season as a starter.

Not only has Glennon been productive, he has also steadily improved throughout the course of the season. In the last two games, NC State has yielded just three sacks, and only one was on Glennon.

Versus Georgia Tech, he didn't get the ball out quick enough on an all-out blitz, and that has plagued him in those situations this year. However, he has started to throw the ball out of bounds and take incompletions instead of forcing passes into traffic or taking sacks, which is a major plus for a quarterback.

NC State ends the season with games at Virginia, Florida State, and Boston College, and home matchups against North Carolina, Clemson, and Maryland. While those are conference matchups, all six of those defenses have been torched at various times this season by opposing quarterbacks and Glennon has the skillset capable of doing the same.

His progression has been a pleasant surprise for O'Brien and the Wolfpack, and it not only gives hope for the rest of the season, but also for the Wolfpack in 2012.

If Glennon keeps producing like he has been doing and leads the Wolfpack to more victories, folks will certainly have to put "The Decision" behind them.
