Connor Mitch is one of the top signal-callers in the state, and the 2013 prospect has led Raleigh (NC) Wakefield High School to a 6-0 start in the 2011 season.

Just a junior, Mitch has already passed for 1,814 yards and 22 touchdowns with only two interceptions.

"We're playing well right now," said Mitch. "The offense is flowing and the defense has got progressively better as the season has went on. We're 6-0 and coming off a 63-28 win over Millbrook."

Millbrook is led by senior Keith Marshall, Scout.com's No. 1 rated running back in the 2011 class, but it was Mitch who was the star of the game, as he passed for a career-high 485 yards in the victory.

"The game actually went better than we even expected," said Mitch. "We didn't expect to win that big... we had 49 points at halftime.

"I don't know if he was hurt or something, but we held Keith Marshall to 90 yards. I guess is pretty good because he's the No. 1 back in the country."

Colleges have taken notice of Mitch's development. This summer he attended camps at several schools, and he has already taken unofficial visits for games this year to North Carolina, Florida State, and Florida.

A couple of weeks ago he picked up his first scholarship offer, which came from the East Carolina Pirates.

"Well, that was big with it being my first offer and obviously their offense sticks out," said Mitch. "You see their offense throwing the ball 40 or 50 times a game... that's a quarterback's dream."

Mitch stated he picked up his second offer on Tuesday night when NC State recruiting coordinator Jerry Petercuskie informed him that the Wolfpack were extending an offer.

"I know Coach Petercuskie well because he actually lives in my neighborhood," said Mitch. "He let me know that State had offered me. He said that I've been to their camp and did really well there, and they've been impressed with how I've played this year so they decided to offer."

What does Mitch think of NC State?

"The thing with State is I like coach Bible and their offense," he said. "My favorite quarterback is Matt Ryan, and coach Bible coached him up at Boston College. He helped turn him into a top draft pick and that shows what he can do as a coach."

As of now Mitch maintains that he is wide open and doesn't have a leader. With offers from NC State and East Carolina he is also hearing from programs such as North Carolina, Maryland, FSU, and Florida among others.

"I'm going to take it as slow as possible," he said. "There are no leaders, no top five.

"For me, coaching stability will be big. You don't want to go to a place where coaches leave every year. I want to be with the same coach that recruits me because that is why I'm going to choose that school. I want to make sure he'll be there all four years."

This weekend Mitch will be at East Carolina for their game against North Carolina. He stated he will also be attending a game at Maryland in October and at NC State later in the season.
