Notes: NC State head football coach Tom O’Brien has announced that Forrest West, a 6-1, 260 pound defensive end, has decided to transfer to NC State after spending the past two seasons at Colorado.
The Canton, Conn., native will sit out next season and then will have two years of eligibility remaining.
As a freshman in 2009, Forrest West saw action in all 12 games and was in for 192 snaps from scrimmage. He recorded 10 stops, including one for loss, broke up two passes and forced a fumble. He earned the Buffaloes’ Lee Willard Award, presented to the team’s most outstanding freshman.
Last season, he saw action in 11 contests and 258 snaps, despite missing part of fall camp after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. He tallied 19 tackles, including 8.5 for loss and 5.5 sacks.
West prepped at the Salisbury School, where he earned first-team All-Erickson League and was named first-team All-New England for Class A by the New England Prep School Athletic Council.
