Tom O'Brien announced today following practice that sophomore tailback Mustafa Greene has sustained a foot injury that would require surgery.
"Mustafa will have surgery sometime this week," said O'Brien. "He's got a foot injury. Whenever he has surgery he'll be back in the fall."
Greene led NC State in rushing as a true freshman in 2010, despite coming off the bench in 12 of 13 games. He rushed for 597 yards and four touchdowns, hitting paydirt in each of the first four games of the season. He also had two receiving touchdowns last year.
The 6-foot, 201-pounder entered spring practice penciled in as the starter at tailback. He will have surgery, but is expected to return in time for fall practice.
