Size: 6-2, 198
Hometown: Raleigh, NC
School: Leesville Road

Projected position at NCSU: Outside linebacker

Stats: As a junior Pittman registered 89 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and two interceptions. Pittman returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown. During his senior year, Pittman had 125 tackles, five sacks, four interceptions and six passes defended.

Commit Date: September 3, 2010

Recruiting Scene: Pittman's recruitment didn't take off as quickly as it did for some other kids in part because he didn't start until his junior season at Leesville Road. His coaches eased him into the starting lineup as he developed. Wake Forest and East Carolina, along with NC State sent Pittman offers over the summer but it was his familiarity with the Wolfpack program that sold him on the Pack.

Why NC State?:
"State was the first college I ever started hearing from and my family is State fans so I've always been looking towards them," Pittman said upon receiving his offer from NC State. "I've always been connected to State because one of my best friends is Logan Bible, coach Dana Bible's son, and I also have a couple of my teammates who play there, Zack and Taylor Gentry."

Picked NC State over: Wake Forest and East Carolina

Scouting Report: Whenever Pittman works his way onto the depth chart it's a safe bet that he will look a little different than he does now. He will need to add some weight to his frame, and the coaches have to hope his speed (4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash) doesn't suffer as a result. He has good athleticism at the linebacker position. Pittman reads plays well, usually takes good angles and is relentless in pursuit. He plays well in space but, as mentioned before, will need to bulk up in order to improve at shedding tackles at the point of attack. He has good quickness and is a very solid tackler for his size. Pittman is a ferocious tackler and shows good instincts. Once he adds the necessary weight, he should blossom into a solid contributor for NC State.
