The team placed defensive end Mario Williams, wide receiver David Anderson, and guard Mike Brisel on injured reserve, ending their seasons. Williams hasn't been right for a while now.
He's laudably kept playing through a sports hernia without complaining. After the coaches watched film of Williams struggling on Monday night, they decided to shut him down for the season. John McClain of the Houston Chronicle notes that Williams led the team with 8 1/2 sacks, 19 quarterback hits and 10 tackles for loss.
