Snyder Recaps NC State Visit

Charlotte (NC) Myers Park kicker Miller Snyder has taken two visits and has one remaining as he could be nearing a decision.

Miller Snyder's first official visit was to NC State last week and over the weekend he visited Harvard. What did Snyder think of his NC State trip?

"I was extremely impressed with State," he stated. "It definitely set the bar high for the other visits. I really liked all of the facilities, and I've always been impressed with that. I talked with the academic advisers and that stood out as well. It seemed like it would be a good fit for me."

As a senior Snyder connected on 7-of-9 field goals with his longest being from 45 yards. He also posted a 41-yard net punting average and 90% of his kickoffs were touchbacks. At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, Snyder is capable of handling punts, kickoffs, and field goals in college.

"NC State and UNC are recruiting me to be a kicker," he previously stated. "Wake wants me to kickoff and handle some punting, and if I chose to attend one of the Ivy schools I would handle all three."

Next up for Snyder is an official visit to North Carolina. UNC and NC State have extended offers, but the Tar Heels have offered Snyder as a greyshirt. Snyder stated that he would enroll as a regular student but go on scholarship in the spring semester of his freshman year should he pick the Heels.

"The greyshirt offer, I don't think it's a bad situation," he said. "Actually, I think it's kind of an advantage because I can redshirt as a true freshman and then go on scholarship in the spring and still have four years left to kick."

Snyder could be ready to make a decision shortly after his visit to North Carolina.

"I think that could be when I start to focus on it... I'm going to talk with my family after that visit," said Snyder. "Right now I don't know if there is a leader. I think all of the schools have their positives and not really a lot of negatives.

"It's a tough decision. Originally I was looking at Engineering as a major, but I'm starting to re-evaluate that... see what else is out there. That might change things, depending on the school, but I'm not leaning anywhere just yet."

Snyder is rated a 5-star kicking prospect by the NCS (National Combine Series) and a 4 1/2 star kicker by Chris Sailer kicking. He is listed in Sailer's Top 12 kicking prospects and placed second in the national competition.

"Miller is an excellent kicker," stated kicking guru Chris Sailer. "He has a strong leg and gets great height on his field goals. Also very solid on kickoffs. Shows outstanding potential as a punter. Currently one of the top combo player prospects in the nation. Has all the tools. Special talent."

He will also serve as a kicker in the upcoming US Army All-American game which features some of the top high school players in the nation.
