NOTEBOOK: Wilson Setting Records

NC State star quarterback Russell Wilson had another big game on Saturday, passing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in the fourth straight game.

Two True Freshman Start In Secondary
Today's starting secondary was made up of two sophomores and two true freshmen. Rookie David Amerson got his first start last week versus Virginia Tech at cornerback, and today freshman Dontae Johnson got the nod at the field safety spot.

Pack Blocks Another Punt
NC State tallied its third blocked punt of the season in the first quarter today when Colby Jackson blocked a punt and D.J. Green recovered it for a touchdown. The Wolfpack blocked one punt in 12 games last season and has three in six games in 2010.

Against Georgia Tech this year, Asa Watson blocked a punt and Jarvis Williams recovered it for a touchdown. This marks the first season since 2004 that NC State blocked a pair punts for touchdowns. In 2004, Marcus Hudson and Miguel Scott both scored on blocked punts.

Touchdowns Abound
When Owen Spencer caught a touchdown pass in the second quarter, he became the 10th Wolfpack player to catch a touchdown pass this season. It marked Spencer's first TD of the season.

Pack Gets Picks
Brandan Bishop had two interceptions today and now three for the season, while C.J. Wilson picked off his second pass of the season in today's game, with Wilson running his back for a 28 -yard touchdown. NC State now has seven picks for the season in six games, just two less than the team had in 12 games a year ago.

Bishop's two picks on the day were the most in a game by a Wolfpack player since A.J. Davis picked off two passes at Florida State during the 2005 season.

The Other Wilson Scores Too
Cornerback C.J. Wilson scored his second touchdown of the season in the third quarter today, giving him two interceptions for a touchdown this season. The last time a Wolfpack player scored on an interception return twice in one season was in 1966, when Greg Williams returned two for scores.

Spencer Vaults up List
With 70 receiving yards in today's game, senior wide receiver Owen Spencer moved from 10th place to fifth-place in school history in career receiving yards. He now boasts 1,955 yards for his career, more than any other receivers in school history besides Nas Worthen, Eddie Goines, Jerricho Cotchery and Torry Holt.

Offense, Defense and Special Teams Scores for Pack
The Wolfpack scored on offense, defense (interception return by CJ Wilson) and special teams (blocked punt by DJ Green) today. The last time NC State's three units all scored in a single game was Sept. 20, 2003 against Texas Tech. In that 49-21 Wolfpack win, the Pack had an interception returned for a touchdown (Greg Golden) and scored on a blocked punt (Richard Washington).

Wilson Crosses 300-yard Mark ... Again!
With 328 passing yards today, Russell Wilson has now passed for 300+ yards five times in six games this season. Only Philip Rivers (9 in 2003 and 5 in 2000) ever had as many or more 300+ yard games in a single season. Wilson has gone over that mark nine times in his career, which is also second only to Rivers' tally of 19 games over 300 yards.

And Throws for Three Touchdowns
Russell Wilson also threw three touchdown passes today, marking the 12th time in his career that he has done so. He has thrown for three or more touchdowns in five games this season and 11 of his last 17 contests.

Czajkowski Extends School Record
Senior placekicker Josh Czajkowski kicked five extra points today and now has 102 for his career. He is now the sole NC State record-holder for career PATs.

Wilson Sets Single-Game Records
With 38 pass completions this afternoon, Russell Wilson tied Philip Rivers for the NC State single-game record in that category. Rivers had 38 against Wake Forest in 2003. Wilson's 51 completions ranks 10th on the Wolfpack single-game list.
