Irving Named Walter Camp Defensive POW

RALEIGH, N.C. - Redshirt senior linebacker Nate Irving was named Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week today, as announced by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

A native of Wallace, N.C., Nate Irving totaled a career-best 16 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and two sacks for 11 total yards, as NC State downed Georgia Tech, 45-28, on Saturday in Atlanta.

Irving, who missed the 2009 season after sustaining multiple injuries in a car accident, now has 27 tackles - including five for loss and two sacks - on the year.

In addition to Sunday's honor, NC State football's upcoming home game against Virginia Tech is completely sold out. The Wolfpack (4-0 / 1-0 ACC) will host the Hokies (2-2 / 1-0 ACC) this coming Saturday, Oct. 2, in a 3:30 p.m. contest on ABC.
